Fried Cheese

Consider fried cheese--depending on the cheese, low calorie (mine was 80 calories), relatively LOW sodium (mine was 125mg), low carb (mine was <1g), high protein (mine was 4g), Gluten Free, good source of calcium.  I think it is delicious and so versatile.

If you plan to make multiple slices at once on the same pan, give each slice plenty of space since the melting cheese will spread and could melt together.  I have used a 2-burner griddle for this process with great success.

You can do this same process with slices from blocks of cheese to make "crackers".  You can also use small mounds of shredded cheeses (about 1" in diameter) to make round crackers.

Try different cheeses--this is delicious with Monterey Jack, Asiago, Sharp Cheddar, Pepper Jack, etc. to make a variety of yummy, different flavored snacks.
